Audacity Editing Glitch

Hi there-
I use Audacity with the latest version (Mac user) and the past few days I have had issues editing. As I use the multiview to see breaths and edit them out- I am now getting the spinny wheel of death and it sends an error code/report and I am not able to copy/past silence. Any tips or tricks? Any other DAWS that I might look into or is Audacity the best out there for LibriVox recording? Thanks in advance.
