Shifting Sands, by Sara Ware Bassett (1872 - 1968)

Volunteers outside the USA: Sara Ware Bassett died in 1968. This person's work may still be protected by copyright in countries where copyright duration is determined by the author's death date. In Europe this is 70 years; in Canada it is 70 years for authors who died after 1971; and in Australia it is 70 years for authors who died after 1955.
After days of fog Stanley Heath, a stranger whose power-boat runs aground on the treacherous Cape Cod shoals, stumbles into the Homestead and into the life of Marcia Howe, a young widow with whom half the men in the village are already in love. Out of his clothing falls a leather case crammed with gems and the enigma of this puzzling possession provides the pivot around which the story revolves. Marcia's blind, intuitive belief in the man's innocence brings its own reward. The hamlets of Wilton and Belleport, already so well known to Miss Bassett's readers, are again the setting of this new novel. A sparkling love story of Cape Cod. (Summary by The author)

If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

There's something oddly ironic about a dog named Prince Hal, no? :hmm:
Anyway, chapter 3 should be ready for a listen at your convenience.
Thanks!

Chapter 4 has been posted. Please make sure the file uploaded successfully, as it took ages to upload, and had to restart after a failure or two.
The time in the MW should be correct.
And get ready for some town gossip!
Thanks!

The file downloaded just fine, and my! I think we must have met the whole town in one go. Their gossip seems to be the harmless, good-natured kind. :)

There's a couple of spots to check and see what you think and if they're okay then this one is PL OK

~1:22 "the leg was off his hair-cloth sofa"--I think I hear 'chair-cloth'

~10:18 "Oh, there's no danger but she'll do that all right, Lemmy," -- I think I hear she's for there's
