One Man's Initiation: 1917, by John Dos Passos (1896 - 1970)

This project is complete! All files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/one-mans-initiation-1917-by-john-dos-passos/

Volunteers outside the USA: John Dos Passos died in 1970. This person's work may still be protected by copyright in countries where copyright duration is determined by the author's death date. In Europe this is 70 years; in Canada it is 70 years for authors who died after 1971; and in Australia it is 70 years for authors who died after 1955.
In this semi-autobiographical work, his first novel, John Dos Passos describes the experiences of young Martin Howe as an ambulance driver, on the French front, during the First World War.(Summary by Mark Leder)

Target completion date: 2024-03-31

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Thank you.
And thank you for correcting my goof on the number of chapters! This is a short one, as these things go.
Should I wait until a DPL signs on to record?

Ha! I didn't do anything with the number of chapters. If you put in the wrong number, some weird internet glitch fixed it. :P

You can start recording and uploading the files without a DPL. It takes more time to record than to listen anyway. :)

Moving to Going Solo.

Have you ever posted an "ad" for a DPL over in "Proof-listeners and Editors Wanted"?

I'll try it. I did it once before, and remember nothing of it.

I put up the notice for a DPL. The only thing I didn't do was the last part. All that talk about the "project thread" leave me totally confused.

Hi! I read a Dos Passos here a million years ago, so this stuck out to me.

Thought I should point out, before you get too far, that the title is One Man's Initiation, not Initiative.

Good luck, and happy reading!

I've put you in, Kevin. Thanks!

Welcome aboard, Kevin!
Oh yes, I would assume I made the mistake there as well. I would have changed it by now, but I assume there will be more corrections to make, so I held off.
