North America Volume 2, by Anthony Trollope (1815 - 1882)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/north-america-vol-2-by-anthony-trollope/
Anthony Trollope was one of the most successful, prolific and respected English novelists of the Victorian era. In 1861-1862 he travelled throughout the Canadas and the United States to ascertain firsthand their customs, the various societies, the institutions and politics of this young country. In Volume 2 you will hear his comments and opinions on the Constitution of The United States, the Government and its Financial Position, the Law Courts and Lawyers as well as his feelings towards American Hotels, Literature, the Post Office and of course the Civil War. As in Volume 1 many of you will no doubt disagree with Mr. Trollope's views but still consider it a very interesting glance at mid-19th-century North America. (Summary by Celine Major)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I was hoping you would pick it up since I knew you were listening to Vol. 1.
Maybe you'll have finished it by the time Helen has proofed this one. :D
Thanks a lot Dave.
Have a good night!

Thanks Dave.

Helen will come along eventually I hope.
I think she is having problems with her emails lately and my LV PM's to her have not left my Outbox.

Sect 1
PL OK

I've never been there, so this is very special with the clear description; it doesn't even matter it has changed.
And we're off.

Thanks Helen. I totally agree. His descriptions are so detailed it's easy to imagine both the places and the events he refers to.

I loved both his volumes but I have to admit his opinions will definitely rub some the wrong way. It helps to remember they were written by an Englishman in 1862!!! :D

Have a great week...you too Dave!
