IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Again --

Chapter 01 has been recorded and is ready for the magic of PLing.

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/malayarchipelago1_01_wallace_128kb.mp3

44:25.2, 88.6 dB. Possibly the longest chapter, or one of the longest.

I agree -- I think that this is going to be fun and that I will enjoy it quite a lot. Around 18 minutes you may detect a very long and rambling sentence. Hopefully not too many of those though.....

Please let me know about any edits that may be needed.

Cheers

1 PL OK!

I feel the need to listen to this chapter again...with a detailed map of the region in front of me. I am very unfamiliar with the geography of the area being discussed.

Hi Again --

Chapter 3 is uploaded.

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/malayarchipelago1_03_wallace_128kb.mp3
20:07.2, 89.4 dB

Thanks for listening.

Yes, a lot of beetles. Who knew? Well, entomologists I presume. And, I recently read that a handful of leaf litter from a NZ forest floor will contain 10 - 20 different species of land snails -- most of them less than 1 mm in diameter. Haven't tried it yet though.....

Hi Anne and David --

I'd like your opinions please.

Chapter IV is pretty long -- it would be over 1 hour if submitted as one file (I'm just starting to sound edit it). I can easily enough turn it into two files if that is a better idea.

The same is likely for Chapter V and Chapter XVII -- although neither is quite as long as Chapter IV is. Still, each would be about 1 hour when recorded.

So, may I have your opinions please? I don't mind either way.

Many thanks

Either seems fine. Some readers don't like to split chapters unless required and others don't like hour-long chapters.
