Slave Narratives: A Folk History of Slavery in the United States from Interviews with Former Slaves, Volume IX Mississippi Narratives, by Various
These volumes of slave narratives are the product of the Federal Writers Project sponsored by the Library of Congress and the Work Project Administration. They consist of verbatim records of personal interviews with former slaves conducted during 1936-1938

"These life histories, taken down as far as possible in the narrators' words, constitute an invaluable body of unconscious evidence or indirect source material, . . . The narratives belong to folk history—history recovered from the memories and lips of participants or eye-witnesses,” This is Volume Nine, comprising 26 narratives, for the state of Mississippi in a series of 34 volumes. Hi Team! I will MC this for you. I changed the title of the project but will make sure it reverts to the original form when cataloguing. Be right back with MW.

Thanks so much for setting this up for us, Christine!
Much appreciated.

Ah, now that you mention the title, on our previous issues we used "by Various" in the title and in the intros, so I have changed it to that which will make things less cumbersome.

MW is filled in, and we are ready for readers!

Hello! Here is section 1 (12:50).

I believe there is an error with the file name, as it has a duplication of _##_various_128kb. I removed it in my uploaded file, but if it should be there, let me know and I can rename. Also, I got an error from copying the file name that there is a space registering right before the s in slave.

Well, I'm not sure what the errors were. If I goofed, I apologize, and thank you for the corrections.
I've put this in the MW Ready for PL

Thanks for our first recorded section. :)

Sorry I missed this. Section 1 is PL OK. Interesting to listen to. Enjoyed the part about the "poor white trash"

Thanks,
