Hello! I have assigned section 10 to myself - there are good passages in that section.

Regards.

Very good. I can continue with sections 3 and 4.

Great recording. You did a beautiful job of reading it. PL OK.

Thanks,

M

(Made a big difference listening after having listened to the preface. I just wish I had read it before I listened to the other chapters as I now understand the author's intent.)

Well read indeed. This is PL OK. I am finding this book most interesting even though it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Wish I had read the preface before listening to any of the chapters.

Thanks,

M

Thanks Larry!

Hi mleigh, I agree with you. The preface does provide a good introduction and reasoning for the book; thankfully there are several sections still to go and we should be able to appreciate the passages.

Regards.
Mario.

Here is Section 7:

https://librivox.org/uploads/lorda/readingsmexicanauthors_07_starr_128kb.mp3 10:10

This was an interesting chapter by this native of Guadalajara, also known as the City of Fountains, which I visited many years ago. We also visited the lavish palace and grounds that Emperor Maximilian and Carlota maintained in the picturesque city of Cuernavaca. Still, a tragic chapter in the history of Mexico.
