Richelieu: A Tale of France , by George Payne Rainsford James (1799 - 1860)
Written in three volumes, this fictionalized biography of Richelieu is supposedly based on a manuscript that fell into the author's hands and written by someone intimately acquainted with the facts. Cardinal Richelieu was a powerful French statesman and there is still some debate as to whether he was a great statesman or a cunning fiend. Maybe he was a bit of both. He rose to power under the regency of Mary de Medici and contrived to keep Louis XIII subservient and powerless. He was famous for his foreign policy, but also his scheming to maintain domestic disharmony and bring about the destruction of the aristocracy. It was a time of lawlessness in the country, a situation he overlooked, or maybe even encouraged. This is James's most famous work. (Summary by LynneT)

If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

I did not find the foreign sound at 0:41... did you have the correct time stamp? I listened from 0:30- 0:50 :hmm: Other edits made.

Section 0 is PL ok. The sound is at the end of the word "Dedication" but it can be left as it is does not interrupt the flow of the reading. I probably shouldn't have noted it at all.

Section 1:
0:25 should be "Volume 1 Chapter 1" which is the Section title; I heard "Section 1"

I think I changed my mind about what I wanted to say. Section 1 seemed less cumbersome.
