thank you Warren, another interesting bit into his life, yes, beginnings are always hard, especially with such an antagonist as Thomas

a few small edits needed:

> at 1:50: "founded in Boston by Major Higginson" – you say "colonel"
> from 10:45 to 10:47: between "one of the orchestra" and "end of" – maybe cut the long silence a little bit here
> at 10:47: "end of section 3" – you say "chapter"

thanks

Sonia
Here is Section 3, corrected: https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/mymusicallife_03_damrosch_128kb.mp3 (10:54)

Here's the deal on Commissioned-Officer Higginson.
Weeks ago, I got myself an actual copy of the book, copyright 1923. I initially recorded the book using the Gutenberg version, then did the proofreading using my actual copy. When I got to proofing the paragraph in question, I slapped my forehead and thought, "Colonel Higginson?! How did I manage to read it as 'Major'?" Then I "corrected" it. Apparently, Higginson had been promoted after the first edition had come out, probably for founding the orchestra in Boston?
Anyway, I had already been cautioned against using anything other than the Gutenberg version for recording on Librivox, so this is totally my fault. I've demoted Higginson, and he is back to being a major.

ah so that was the reason  yes since we are reading from an earlier version then, we need to stick with the title the good man had back in the days. It's small things like these that show that differences between versions can have big effects.

Thank you, the section is now perfectly PL ok :)

an interesting chapter on the times of war in Europe. 8-) Basically word perfect, though unfortunately you missed the meaning of the abbreviation "M." here in context. It means "monsieur", the French title for "mister". Your French is otherwise excellent, so it sounds a bit odd hearing the letter 'm' here, as if it was an initial for a name. :?

Here are the spots where they appear:

> at 3:40: "was at that time M. Alfred Cortot"
> at 6:37: "M. Clemenceau or M. Pichon"
> at 7:10: "M. Pichon"
> at 7:58: "M. Sulzer"
> at 8.22: "told me that M. Sulzer"
> at 10:02: "to inform M. Sulzer"
> at 14:02: "the conductor of which was M. Rhene Baton" - also the French name "René" (misspelt) usually is pronounced "Renay"
> at 14:10: "M. Baton"
> at 14:49: "M. Mantel"
> at 19:50: "M. Cortot"
> at 27:42: "M. Cortot"
> at 28:49: "and M. Hewitt"

> the background noise is still very high, could you run another round of noise cleaning maybe ? If you look at your audacity waves in the interface, in magnified condition, one does indeed see a pronounced waves where the room silence should be

thanks

I knew that M. meant Monsieur but I thought we were supposed to read exactly what was on the page so I did. I should have checked with you about that. Too bad! I do wonder why all of a sudden the background noise seems so bad but I will run another noise reduction. Nothing has changed in the set up here so I hope the second run will help as it apparently did the last time. Thank you.

ah I understand your dilemma...yes, we do need to read what the author wrote, but abbreviations can of course be read in full. Some instances there were of "Mr." for example, and you read those automatically as "mister" and not as "m-r". It's the same here, only in French.

Thank you, I will know to read all those abbreviations the next time and I will take care of the corrections today.

Here is the link to the corrected text. I hope everything is ok with the Monsieur additions and I did run the noise reduction several times and hope that is improved. Thank you.

https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/mymusicallife_09_damrosch_128kb.mp3
I already did two car trips through Scotland and I remember I enjoyed it very much :9:

An excellent chapter, and interesting this is how he met his future wife. Funny that she forbade him to mention her name, and he does it nevertheless

Just one small edit:

> at 15:17: missed part (underlined part): His power of abstraction from his surroundings was remarkable. He enjoyed working in the room in which his family were talking, laughing, and disputing on all manner of subjects

thanks

Sonia
You and your fun road trips! Bet it was amazing!

I love how our mind works (or doesn't work sometimes). It's all "Nah...just skip that whole line, there's nothing important there"

Apologies for the oversight, and it's now corrected! New run time is 20:41.
