a few small edits needed:

Here's the deal on Commissioned-Officer Higginson.
Weeks ago, I got myself an actual copy of the book, copyright 1923. I initially recorded the book using the Gutenberg version, then did the proofreading using my actual copy. When I got to proofing the paragraph in question, I slapped my forehead and thought, "Colonel Higginson?! How did I manage to read it as 'Major'?" Then I "corrected" it. Apparently, Higginson had been promoted after the first edition had come out, probably for founding the orchestra in Boston?
Anyway, I had already been cautioned against using anything other than the Gutenberg version for recording on Librivox, so this is totally my fault. I've demoted Higginson, and he is back to being a major.
