thank you Inkell, I have just now checked Act 1, and most of it is very much ok, but there is a small rule of thumb for when to say the character names and when to leave them out:

> if the stage directions come at the beginning, include the name. In the old scripts, unfortunately, they often put it on the wrong spot, so we need to be vigilant what belongs to the directions, especially with the "aside"
> if the stage directions come in the middle or at the end: do not repeat the character name, as we know who this is about
> a few exceptions, when a new character enters, then to avoid confusion, the name gets repeated

Here are the few spots that I noticed in your first act that were wrong:

> at 1:46: "ladies and gentlemen for the basset table, chairmen, footmen, etc" – this can be cut, instead we need the voice credits for actual speaking roles. Todd has them all marked out in the MW, you should be able to extract them from there, like: 2nd Footman / Sharper / Stranger / Servant / Banker / Officers and others that are not mentioned in the book but in the MW

> at 2:27, 2:53 and 2:58: (p. 203/204) "Lady Reveller, within" – since we assessed who the voice is, we should maybe introduce her here to avoid confusion

> at 2:46: (p. 204) "exit" – "3rd footman" can be cut

> at 3:27: (p. 204) "lady Reveller, aside" – "lady Reveller" needs to be included

> at 3:39: (p. 207) "exit" –"Sir Richard" can be cut

> at 3:52: (p. 207) "lady Reveller, aside" – "lady Reveller" needs to be included, as lady Lucy was mentioned just before, to avoid confusion

> at 4:10: (p. 209) "exit" – "lady Reveller" can be cut

> at 4:16: (p. 209) "exit" – "lady Lucy" can be cut

> at 4:31: (p. 211) "exit" – "lord Worthy" can be cut

> at 4:38: (p. 212) "exit" – "Sir James" can be cut

assuming you made those same mistakes in the next two acts, I will refrain from PLing for the moment. Could you go back and make those changes in acts 2 and 3 before I do the PL, as otherwise I risk needing to write too many PL notes for the same error each time. :?

thanks

Damn, and there I thought I had gotten the hang of the stage directions. I remembered you needed to say the name at the beginning but not during the middle, I just thought at the end you also needed to say the name and the vast majority of the stage directions in this play were ones at the end so of course I added all the names.

Yeah don't bother PLing the other two acts, the vast majority of these stage directions are just going to be useless junk now. I'm sorry for wasting your time

yes I will wait until you make the cuts. Not useless junk though, you don't have to re-record from scratch, I'm sure you can simply cut the name out in front or after.

perfectly roguish, I loved the performance. And you haven't lost your evil cackle from the Beauty Stone  I'm not sure I should be flattered by the way you want to get rid of Mrs Sago  but well...it's all in the script, and you did it perfectly. All acts absolutely PL ok.

Thanks

Here are all five acts for Sir Richard:

Two weeks without microphone, place, time, or strength to record has set me back.
I hadn't intended to dump all five acts, but needed to take advantage of the opportunity, and Act V is short.

ah poor Sir Richard is being totally conned here, but I say that for him, he takes it with good sport in the end. Lovely characterized, Larry, thanks !!! I can mark acts 2, 4 and 5 PL ok right away.

Act 1:
> at 2:12: (p. 206) "If I were young I'd go myself in person" - you say "to a person"
> at 4:22: (p. 207) missed lines "For she whose shame no good advice can wake, When money's wanting will her virtue stake."

Act 3:
> at 1:18: (p. 229) "'tis the flesh I fear" - I think you say "fish" here

thanks

thank you Larry, Act 3 now PL ok

still one edit for act 1, sorry about that:

> at 4:22: "For she whose shame no good advice can wake" - you say "whose shame is no good advice", which changes the meaning. Here he meant: "no good advice can awaken her shame"

thanks
