Short Story Collection 109, by Various
This collection is for any short story in the English Language in the public domain, preferably less than 60 minutes. You are welcome to contribute as many as you wish, and there is no need to "sign-up" before recording as long as the work is clearly in the public domain.

Please ask here if the story was published after 1928 or if you are unsure for any other reason about its public domain status. Note that translations attract their own new copyright and must also have been published before 1928.

Multiple versions are always welcome, so you can record a story that has been recorded before. (If the same stories are submitted twice in the same collection, we will carry the second version over to the next collection) .

You may prefer to submit your recording to one of the other more specialized short story collections. Please note that this collection is intended for an adult audience. (Summary by Lynnet)

Source text Readers find their own public domain text

Before I PL, I should point out that usually HCA stories are more appropriate in the children’s collection viewtopic.php?t=99400

That being the case, you might feel the same way about my first submissions written by Mark Twain. Let me know if you'd rather I move them. Makes not difference to me.

Leave the Twain until I’ve had a chance to listen. The Anderson, I think should be moved.

Good evening, and Happy New Year:

Beyond the Limit
By Erle Stanley Gardner
From Sunset Magazine, April, 1925
Read by Dale Grothmann
Time 38:40

Audio at: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/ssc108_beyondlimit_dg_128kb.mp3

Text at: https://archive.org/details/sim_sunset-central-west-edition_1925-04_54_4/page/18/mode/2up

I wish this had been a better copy of the magazine, but this is one of his earlier works (No courtroom, no detectives) and all of his published work is collectable, so it is hard to find online.

Enjoy
