The Powers That Prey, by Josiah Flynt (1869 - 1907) and Alfred Hodder (1866 - 1907)
True stories of criminals (the powers that prey) and the system (the powers that rule) by journalists who went among the criminal classes to gather material first-hand. Some of the chapters were first published in McClure's Magazine as a series called "True Stories From the Underworld." (Summary by Chris Pyle)

Target completion date: 2024-04-01

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Sounds interesting - I"ll MC this for you!

Later: All done! Since this is true crime according to your summary, I've changed the genre accordingly. All else looks good.

Could it be that this is your first solo? Congrats!

And now back to work: It's your responsibility as soloist to keep the MW up-to-date. For this you'll need a login to our database. Click on the link just below the MW and take it from there.
A how-to is here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Soloists:_How_to_update_the_Magic_Window
Let me know if you have questions or need help.

Good luck!
Cheers, Ava.

Section 1 has one PL note:
4:35 the word "present" is cut off at the end making it hard to understand
