Intro to recording:

SPECIAL READER'S NOTE ON PRONUNCIATION: While allowances can be made for minor variations for pronunciation of names and places, many of these are so well-known that correct pronunciation is essential. When in doubt, consult the pronunciation guide at the end of this book, or an online source, or ask for clarification.

Leave 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning.

Say:
"Chapter # of Stories of California. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit librivox.org." [Optional: "Read by your name."] "Stories of California, by Ella M. Sexton. Section Title."
End of recording:
Say:
"End of chapter #." [Optional, and if not stated in the intro: "Read by your name, city, date."]
If you are recording the final section of the book, add:
"End of Stories of California, by Ella M. Sexton."
Leave 5 seconds of silence at the end.

I really wanted to read about the Donner party but it looks like the author decided to skip that piece of history. :hmm:

Anyway, could I put in an early claim for the building of the overland railroad, section 8, I believe.

Thanks,

M

Thank you for setting this up, Tricia!
I've added the word counts and the initial claims.

A DPL would be most welcome

Hi Larry -

Since I'm about done with 13, 14 and 15 pending your approval... may I also read 17 and 21?

Thanks!
Carolyn

PS this is a nice children's book. California history/ecology is typically taught in the fourth grade and this book is at about that level, I think.
