Lady Bountiful, by Arthur Wing Pinero (1855 - 1934)
"The story of "Lady Bountiful" is, I venture to think, human and interesting enough to offer possibilities to the novelist; whereas Mr. Pinero treated it, after his lights, in dramatic form. And he gripped the attention of his audiences, and made them laugh and made them cry, and yet "Lady Bountiful" cannot be described as a popular success, in London at all events. In New York its success was far greater than had been anticipated and it enjoyed quite a long career."
(Summary by Malcolm C. Salaman (1892))
This project is complete. Audio files may be found on our Librivox catalog page at https://librivox.org/lady-bountiful-by-arthur-wing-pinero/

Another Pinero. Serious stuff. Rig for tears and compassion.

Sonia will be your stalwart guide through the years of this play, as well as your DPL. Do not get her upset.

Gender neutral, of course.

Well . . . . been awhile since I've read stage directions for Pinero, so may I try again?

Sir Lucian, please.

I note that he's marked as a Baron in the MW for Act I, rather than Baronet (Bart)
