Some of the places he describes are Jamaica, Cuba, the Windward Islands (modern-day Grenada, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines), British Guiana (modern-day Guyana), Trinidad, St. Thomas (now one of the U.S. Virgin Islands), and New Grenada (modern-day Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Venezuela).
