just chiming in here...we need to make sure that the edition used is in the public domain. Which source is used now by the reader ? It would be recommended that the DPL also check from that source, assuming it's PD.
Please clarify
Sonia
Espero no estar equivocada.

I cannot open the epub version, so I cannot check. Maybe Verla can open it ? So the epub version is not a scan of the original pages but a formatted text ?lu88 wrote: ↑December 18th, 2023, 12:29 amSigue siendo la misma fuente. Y el mismo enlace. Since Verla said there are differences in the text we must assume it's a different edition.
Is it impossible for you to read from the scans ? The scans are quite legible as far as I can see. And it would make sure to have the correct text.

no need to re-record !!! I guess Verla would have notified you if the text was signficantly different to change the meaning. Small errors can pass.
But if you could read from the scans from now on that would be helpful, just to make sure you both have the same public domain source.
Thank you
Sonia

I looked at the epub a few weeks ago because the scan was missing two pages. I was able to open it by installing a Chrome browser extension. If you're interested and use Chrome, you can download it here:
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/epubreader/jhhclmfgfllimlhabjkgkeebkbiadflb
While the epub is text like Gutenberg, it also has an image of the title page before the text starts. While it might be a different pressing (printing), it's definitely PD from the same time period. The title page looks almost exactly like the one on the scan. It has the same emblem (circular medallion-type illustration of a woman with "Arte" on one side and "Libertad" on the other.) The place of publication is the same (Valencia) and the publishing house is clearly visible as the same. ("F. Sempere--Editor") It's also all in the same font. While the crappy photocopy doesn't show the date (which is also pretty faded on the scan title page), I'm confident that it is a printing very near in date. That date is 1900.
I had a similar situation once where the reader had a physical copy of the work and it was also on Gutenberg. In that case, there were also words here and there different, but both sources were PD and we went with it. Like in this case, the differences were so minor we decided it was ok.
I prefer the scan because the epub reader I'm using has it in tiny, tiny print, with no enlargement function. Or rather, it has a function, but when I actually enlarge it, the text disappears for some reason. But if that's more convenient for Lu, I'd say it's ok. It is scrollable, while the BNE isn't. Their scan pdf is such that you have to load one page at a time. It's hard on the person recording because there will be a pause every page (loading is not very quick), and you can't look at the two subsequent pages at once to follow from one part of a sentence to the next.
That's a long explanation for what I think is a short answer
Waiting for a clever signature line to occur to me.
