The Jefferson-Lemen Compact, by Willard C. MacNaul
Willard McNaul's book chronicles from original sources the agreement made between Thomas Jefferson and James Lemen Sr. whereby Lemen agreed to go to the Northwest Territory and pursue an anti-slavery cause. After ten years of hard work, Lemen Sr. established his Baptist Church and was active with the Baptist Association. Their organization was active in the campaign during the Illinois Constitutional Convention to ensure the establishment of a free state. President Lincoln wrote a thankful letter to Lemen Jr. and noted that the hard work and dedication of his father 'set in motion the forces which finally made Illinois a free state.'

Hello!

Did you mean to set this up as a group project, that you are going to coordinate?

Usually we prefer that members have a bit more experience before coordinating a group project. Here's a "readiness quiz" for you to determine if you know what to do in a group project: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=BC_Readiness_Quiz

If you're still comfortable with BC'ing after going through that, then let us know. :)

You will probably want a more welcoming intro/description of the project to attract readers. What IS the Jefferson-Lemen Compact? Maybe I'm a bit dense, but I don't understand what it is from the Lincoln quote given. :? Perhaps include a quick explanation in your own words. :)

Yes, I started using the collaborative template. I will look over the link you provided. Here is something of a summary:

"Willard McNaul's book chronicles from original sources the agreement made between Thomas Jefferson and James Lemen Sr. whereby Lemen agreed to go to the Northwest Territory and pursue an anti-slavery cause. After ten years of hard work, Lemen Sr. established his Baptist Church and was active with the Baptist Association. Whatever becomes of this project, group or solo, would you please consider me for DPL, if you don't have one lined up?
Thank you!

OK, I'll take the chance on you. :) This is a short project, so it hopefully will be fairly easy to BC.

Detailed Instructions for accessing the Magic Window can be found in the document linked here:
Instructions for BCs and DPLs

I'm not sure how you're planning on dividing up the sections, so I can't give preemptive guidance. Ask if you have questions.

When you upload a chapter, put the file duration (mm:ss) in the Notes field and the uploaded URL into the Listen URL field, and mark it from Assigned to Ready for PL.

Ok. Thank you i will do my best. I added sections that seem to make sense. The main introductory body is all written together so I used the table of contents of the Google Books entry for this work as a kind of guide to help divide the section up a little bit by the corresponding page numbers. The rest of the Gutenberg book sections are a little clearer so the sections just follow the table of contents. If you have some suggestions on how this might be better handled that would be great. I gave approx page counts just to give people an idea of what to expect for each item.

Looks pretty good to me.

The numbers at the start of the section titles will cause problems at cataloging time. The cataloging system puts in the section numbers there automatically, so it would be better to remove those numbers you have in there.

Other than that, it looks fine. :) I'll go ahead and move this to Readers Wanted.

Hello! Here is section 6 (2:02). I wasn't sure what the 7 in the MW referenced before the section title, so I did not say it. If it should have been included, let me know and I can fix the intro.

I went ahead and removed the numbers from the section titles in the Magic Window.

Taking another look at the text and sections in the Magic Window, and going by Fried's initial numbering of sections in the section titles, it does make more sense to start this project with section #1 rather than 0. (The first section isn't an introduction or preface that benefits from being labeled as section 0 rather than 1.) But this means that Claire, you'll need to redo the intro and outro, since your section number changed from 6 to 7.

I hope this makes sense!

Looks like many of these are going to be really short sections.

Fried: I wonder if you want to label the first few sections with "Introduction:" and the second ones with "Documents:" like you did the last part with "Pioneer Letters". That would help indicate the overall structure of the book in the section titles. :hmm:

Ok, thank you for getting those numbers and went ahead and added those "document" suggestions. These are good!
