SOLO - The Astral Plane: Its Inhabitants, Scenery, and Phenomena, by C. W. Leadbeater (1854 - 1934)
Few words are needed in sending this little book out into the world. It is the fifth of a series of Manuals designed to meet the public demand for a simple exposition of Theosophical teachings. Some have complained that our literature is at once too abstruse, too technical, and too expensive for the ordinary reader, and it is our hope that the present series may succeed in supplying what is a very real want. Theosophy is not only for the learned; it is for all. Perhaps among those who in these little books catch their first glimpse of its teachings, there may be a few who will be led by them to penetrate more deeply into its philosophy, its science and its religion, facing its abstruser problems with the student's zeal and the neophyte's ardour. But these Manuals are not written for the eager student, whom no initial difficulties can daunt; they are written for the busy men and women of the work-a-day world, and seek to make plain some of the great truths that render life easier to bear and death easier to face. Written by servants of the Masters who are the Elder Brothers of our race, they can have no other object than to serve our fellow-men. - Preface to the book (Summary by publisher)

Target completion date: 2024-02-09

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I think my new “security” system for my software is protecting me from myself; I couldn’t get the # for the proposed reading.

Hello Owlivia,
I'm guessing that you want to read this book:
https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/21080

...but that you're having trouble with the forum post template generator? Maybe it's coming up blank, or giving just an error message?

If so, there are some common issues and things to check for here:
viewtopic.php?t=99510

If I've misunderstood, please do let me know!
I'll be out for a bit on this last weekend of April, but still checking in as I get the chance. I will try to follow up on Monday, with anything I can't do on the go.

It’s not a problem with the author (Leadbeater gets filled in automatically) - it all appears to fill in perfectly. When I click on the next - I get a blank page. Or - the next time I tried, it gave me all the data and even the data to use when submitting the recordings - but not the code #.

Ah, that time where it gave you all the data, that's what we need. We refer to that as "code" because it is specially formatted "code" to show up on the forum the way we want it to. It also contains a project code/ID, which we MCs use when setting up the Magic Window.

So could I have you try the template generator again, and paste that into the first post? If you can't edit the first post, you can just copy/paste and I'll edit it in for you.

Thanks for your reply! I was able to edit the first post. Sorry to be a problem. I've actually done this twice before.... I'll use the time change confusion as an excuse.

I'd also like to change the file name down to something more manageable.
E.g., astralplanescenery_##_leadbeater_128kb.mp3
or - even easier
astralplane_##_leadbeater_128kb.mp3

Fair enough! I'll see if I can use that one tomorrow, before it expires.

I'll be back tomorrow evening, though you may well have another MC come along sooner. Also, if you don't have a DPL lined up, you may want to put a tilde (~) at the beginning of the title in the meantime.

Edit: Cross-post! I'd say that second one is probably best, and that part is your choice as BC/soloist.

Super! I really appreciate your commitment to this project. 🌼 It should be an interesting read; I’m moderately familiar with Leadbeater, but not this particular book, and look forward to learning about the foundations of Theosophy from the source, as it were.

There will be a bit of time lag before the first reading comes through, as I’m finishing up another solo, and have commitments for another reading - and, of course, there’s always “real life.”

Thanks again!
