Sure took few tries :D
Thanks, rusty! In the MW for PL. You will get some feedback soon.

And yes, it always takes a few tries! I've been recording about 2.5 years, and I know for myself I still have to do many, many retakes during a recording section. I trip over my tongue, or realize after I've read a phrase or sentence that I haven't emphasized it in the right way or read it in the right rhythm for it to make most sense.

The key is definitely in the editing, and that's why we say it can take 5 times as long to edit as to record. After I'm done editing, I am fairly confident I have a recording that sounds like it's been done in one take. It's definitely gotten easier over time, so hang in there!
Couldn't agree more, certain takes are better than others. It took me fewer tries while redoing the introduction and outro. Mostly, the choice to make is either to record a longer take or club two together.

Cleaned up and redid the introduction, outro and added the well needed silence part.

In for PL :)
Thanks, Rusty. In MW for Spot PL.

Remember when you post a correction you should also post the duration, even if it hasn't changed. That way we have the new duration, or that it hasn't changed (and you just forgot to say).
Waiting for a clever signature line to occur to me.

Apologies.

Could anyone please suggest an answer to what do these acronyms stand for i.e. PL, MW, DPL etc.

Prooflistening
Magic Window
Dedicated Prooflistener (person who is PLing the entire project)
BC - Book coordinator - this is the person who puts a project up, assigns sections, puts URLs and times in the Magic Window, and answers questions that readers have, like this one! Occasionally also serves as DPL.
MC - Meta coordinator - this is the person behind the scenes. They create the MW and later work with all the metadata to catalog the project when its done.
Waiting for a clever signature line to occur to me.

Hi, emalbo. Congrats on getting your 1-minute test OK'd (finally?)

I've reserved section 6 for you. Since this is your first section ever, to officially assign it to you, I need to know what name you want to be listed under in the catalog. It can be your username, your real name, or something else of your choosing. I put in a note in the MW that I will hold the section until this Friday for this information.

If you haven't yet looked at the Newbie Guide to Recording, check that out. Any other questions, feel free to post them here.

Thanks!
Thank you!

I’ve been a longtime listener on Librivox and had the idea to participate as a volunteer last summer, but then never got around to actually getting started. :? But I’m excited to be here now.

In the catalog, I’ll use my forum name: Emalbo

Thanks again!
Excellent! You're in the catalog and I've assigned you section 6.Welcome aboard!
Hi Verla,

I’ve started working on my section, but I wound up being a lot busier these past weeks than I anticipated. Would it be possible to get a one week extension on my part? I think I could wrap it up and get the recording submitted within that time. Thanks for considering and sorry for the delay!

Best,
Emalbo
