Adopting this from Book Suggestions..

The Square Emerald, by Edgar Wallace (1875 - 1932)

This project is complete and all audio files can be found in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/the-square-emerald-by-edgar-wallace/
What appears to be a straightforward case of blackmail develops into an exciting, complex web for our heroine, a feisty girl detective attached to New Scotland Yard. Some unusual characters and plotlines and loads of cliffhangers make this an interesting and exciting read. (Summary by Anne Fletcher )

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Anne,

May I accompany you on this journey as DPL? I've never read any Edgar Wallace (not sure why not), but a glance at the first chapter makes this novel sound intriguing.

Thanks,
Winnifred

Thank you Winnifred and Rapunzelina...I think there may be a run on Edgar Wallace now 😄 Will be a relief to not have so many male voices as my last read, The Adventuress, the title fooled me! Cheers, Anne F

Both PL OK and delightfully read.

You occasionally get a bit too close to your mic, I think, as I hear some brushing sounds. It's not a big deal, but you might want to watch out for that.

Cheers,
Winnifred

Hi Anne,

All are PL OK. I love your different voices, and I'm on tenterhooks waiting for the next chapter! (I'm not reading ahead so as to maximize the pleasure of listening to you read the story.)

Cheers,
Winnifred

Question for Winnifred and admin..chapter 12 finished edit is almost 56 minutes long; there is a natural break in the storyline at about 37 minutes, (2/3 of way down page 178)...would it be best to split chapters 12 into two parts?
thanks for advice, Anne
