My due date is in a few days but I have been battling a cold and it has affected my voice. May I claim an extension?

Thanks,
Stacey
Yes, you may. Why don’t we extend that a month. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks,
Winnifred

Hello! Here is section 15 (36:58). OMG I want to punch Stoutenburg so hard for Gilda. What a hideous human being! (Well done to the writer for creating such a despicable character!)

Ready for PL. I haven't read that far ahead yet, but I'm ready to punch Stoutenburg just based on the first three chapters, and Gilda hasn't even appeared yet!

You've got it! I'll set you up in the catalogue under ArtistWarrior, but if you'd like a different name there, just let us know.

Feel free to ask questions along the way if you have any.

Thanks,

Most excellent, Winnifred, thanks. ArtistWarrior is good for now.

I've just started scanning the section and learning how to pronounce the names/place names is probably going to be my first activity. Where's the best place to go for pronunciation help?

You can either check out https://www.howtopronounce.com and enter the words there individually to hear how they should be pronounced, or you could ask me here and hope that my written explanation is understandable. I was born in the Netherlands and spoke Dutch as a child, so I do have some idea about how to pronounce many of these words. (I won't be offended if you opt for the site that gives you an audible rendition of the word  ).

Winnifred

Thanks! I'd be foolish not to use all the tools available to me. The app will be a good backup/support for your pronunciations.

I'll get a list of names/places to you, so hopefully it's easier when there's a group of them.

Thanks again!

Ok, here's my stab at it:

Last name: De Voocht: De Foe-gt (try to roll that g in your throat for a guttural sound; not easy to do, I know)
Last name: Van Aitzema: Fun Eight-zuh-ma
Word for letters: Brieven: Breefen
Place name: Amersfoort: Ah-mers (rhymes with pears) -fort
First name: Nicolaes: Nee-coal-aye-ess
First name: Kaatje: Kaah-t-yuh
River name: Ijssel: eh-ee (practice these vowels separately, then say them faster to blend them together so you still hear both) -ssell
Moor or field name: Veluwe: Fay-loo-wuh
Last name: De Keysere: De Kay-sir
Place name: Ede: A-duh (the A rhymes with fay)

Hope that helps. I really had to think about some of these and how I say them!

Cheers,
Winnifred
