I thought of that, but if you go (as an admin) into the workflow and click on People / Show Active Readers, you get over 9,000 of them. (These would be people that have the "Readers" box checked in their permissions in the workflow.) So I'm pretty sure the number in the stats is those who at least have a section assigned to them.

We could dig around in the old development forum posts in storage in the archives if we wanted to be 100% certain. But yes, it changed with the workflow update.

That's an interesting statistic: the number of people in the last 4 years who have claimed a section and been entered into the database as a reader, but who have NOT submitted a section (so they disappeared and the section/s were released for new claims, or the solo was abandoned) is 762, or an average of 190 per year.

Interesting. There would be some more recent ones who will get the first section done
Still it's still 3 plus a week who claim something but don't manage to succeed - it would be nice to get iit lower.

The most recently added language was Kurdish! It's a recording in the open Multilingual collection, so it hasn't been catalogued yet.
If one browses for languages in the Listen page, there are quite a few listed with 0 books completed and 0 in progress. What does this mean?

I don't see any listing for Nepali, and having just returned from three weeks there and some great new friends, maybe I can get them to add something. I just don't know how we would verify anything as public domain.

I also have a new friend whose first language is Tamil which is one of those 0,0 listings.

If I remember correctly, the language listing only counts completed books (whether solo or collaborative) in a given language, entries in any of our Multilingual collections are not counted there. This is why those languages show up with 0 books / 0 in progress

It's not a bug it's a feature  (and yes, it's on our wish list...)

Would it be possible and of value to include a metric on number of hours read. Since a work can be 30m or 40hr long. Tracking total hours gives a fair representation of how active readers are. When I used to track my own reading habits, I would sometimes pick shorter books so my year-end reading total would be higher. Then I started tracking by page count and now if I choose a 1200 pg book or a 120 pg book it all counts equally in the end.

no - sadly the hour count got lost in the software update, it's a much more meaningful than project number . It has been put on a wish list though

Some of the longest projects could use some chivying up. Narrator parts are outstanding for one project for at least half a year. And It was really when I started asking hard questions that Betrothed now looks like finishing shortly (narrator issues outstanding). We can do more to keep the longer projects moving.
