Hi Lynette:

Disappearing Dalrymple
By Hamilton Craigie

Time 23:05

Audio at: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/ssc104_disappearingdalrymple__dg_128kb.mp3
Text at: https://archive.org/details/ShortStoriesV108N0119240710/page/n159/mode/2up

Although some of the references are arcane, this was such a fun idea, and I enjoyed reading it.

Thanks

Here's a new one for the catalog. Makes quite a statement on the importance of a robust economy.

Hunger, by James Stephens

Yes, it certainly makes you think. I couldn't help but think of the "deserving" or "undeserving" poor and the discrepancy between the wealthy and the poor.

Having 3 kids in 4 years was not so smart, but what could she do in a Catholic country that didn't believe in contraception, but made no promises to feed, clothe, house or medicate all those hungry children. The end said it well: "And he went away all hot and cold, beating his hands together as he walked, and feeling upon his shoulders all the weariness and misery of the world."

The Child's Story

~1:17 missing phrase "and they heard such singing-birds"
~6:57 misread "they came to several avenues at once"

I really enjoyed this story! Very touching.
