These look like so much fun!
May I claim Uncle Wiggily and the Skates (#13) and Coasting (14#)
and if I'm not being too greedy Measles (#18) and Mumps (#!9)?

Ha. I was just being sure you knew which sections were yours, that's al.
Hello! Looking to get my feet wet here! May I take section 23, Uncle Wiggily and the Horse?
I've posted a 1-minute test, and read the starter forum posts you've linked.

Well jump right in and get entirely wet. Y our test was fine, especially using the noise reduction and you have the official OK to record lots. Section 23 is all yours.
Thanks for the warm welcome! I've uploaded section 23:

I had trouble sticking to a given volume, so Loudness Normalization was required for passing the checker. I also saved a version before applying that, in case there's a better way.
If this passes PL, I'd be glad to take section 25 next.

In anticipation of a smooth passage, I have assigned 25 to you. NOTE that the file name should be unclewiggilysstorybook_23_garis_128kb.mp3 with the name of the author garis instead of your initials. You do not need to change this file, I will fix it later; this is for future tracks. You seem very technically adept, do you work much with audio?redrun wrote: ↑August 12th, 2022, 9:45 pm Thanks for the warm welcome! I've uploaded section 23:

This was very nicely read and the only comments I have to offer are purely technical.
As Phil, our intrepid Book Coordinator (BC) mentioned, there was a small problem with the file name. Also, at the beginning of the file there should be a silence of between 0.5 and 1.0 seconds and at the end there should be 5 seconds of silence. I heard 0.4 and 3.8 seconds respectively.
Please make these small changes and re-export to MP3. Then reupload using the unclewiggilysstorybook_23_garis_128kb.mp3 file name. Do not forget to post a note here in the thread when you are done.

I'm technically inclined, and have some general idea of audio stuff, but this is my first time putting that to real use. I'm actively learning: Guides from a Sound Engineer looks well worth a dive for conceptual knowledge, and it seems the instructional videos are the place to go for more practical tips. Speaking of which, I'm glad you linked your Loudness Normalization video in your sig! Videos aren't usually the first place I look, but now I know I have lots to answer my questions.

I can tell you have a wonderful vista opening up here in Librivox for your talents. My videos are mostly rough and ready fixes for stuff I had trouble with. We welcome anyone to make videos so if the spirit moves you, please think about it.redrun wrote: ↑August 13th, 2022, 8:35 am Thanks, Jim! I've re-uploaded here:

Another newbie technical question:
Once I have saved a project in Audacity and I opt to open it again, it opens in a compressed version.
Suppose I want to make changes to it, is there a way to decompress it so that I can edit?
Not that I want to change this one, but just asking.
Thanks.

When working with Audacity, you can save it as an aup file. This is what I do as I go along recording and stopping. The aup file opens in Audacity very easily and is not compressed that i know of. I edit the track using this aup file. When finished recording and editing and it is ready to go, I export it as an mp3 file. Now, with that said, please tell me what is happening with you and why it seems to open in a compressed version.LaurieB wrote: ↑August 13th, 2022, 12:09 pm https://librivox.org/uploads/philchenevert/unclewiggilysstorybook_19_garis_128kb.mp3
