Would really like to do some of the short stories Saki. They are splendid bits of fluff. If nobody else is doing them, would love to make a start ... have checked posts, but not sure if that's a full list of whose doing what
Planning to make start with stories from the Chronicales of Clovis.

I'm not sure if I would be allowed this, for I have also committed to doing Bierce's "Owl Creek" (and still plan to do it), but I would also like to ask for the permission to do Hawthorne's "Artist of the Beautiful."

Thank you,

I will shortly be sending a recording of "The Nice People" by H.C. Bunner. The author is obscure, but it was a lot of fun to record. I hope others will enjoy it, too!

Highway, as long as the work is in the public domain you don't need to ask permission to record ... so, go for it =)

Billcoon, good choice ... I love those "obscure" authors, especially the humorous ones =) ... I have received the file and I'll add it to the others =)

I would like to record some of Grimm's fairy tales. Do I need to consult someone first or just go ahead and record them?

Welcome Jane =)

Grimm's Fairy Tales are currently a work in progress as a complete book here: http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=227

You are welcome to record your own versions of these stories. If you only want to do a few of them, we can include them here in the Short Story Collection. If you were thinking of recording the entire set, we will do them as a Going Solo project. =)

Actually, I would rather do something someone else has not already done. How do you tell who is doing what?

Hi Jane,

The quickest way to see which works are already in progress is to check our catalog page:

http://librivox.org/librivox-catalogue/

Scroll down to the "to come" section. There you'll see collaborative projects (which may need readers!) and solo projects.

If you don't see something there, chances are we haven't started it yet!

We recommend starting with a poem or a short chapter of something before you launch into an ambitious solo project :) We've got a new collection of Aesop's Fables here:
http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1058

or you might want to try our Weekly Poetry:
http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1055

Happy reading,

Kara

Also, at the bottom of the first post in this thread, I have summarized the titles that are completed for this collection as well as those that people have said they plan to record... though, we do indeed always welcome additional versions.

Andrew Lang also has many children's stories that have not yet been attempted here at Librivox ... you can find his books at Project Gutenberg here: http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/l#a79

Let us know if you have additional questions... we're happy to help =)
