Yep, those are very cool Basil. Thanks for the link. Unfortunately it's still a pipe dream at the moment. Fortunately they've already solved the biggest problem of satellite internet - the latency caused by the bird's being stationed 22,000 miles in orbit. It's a great idea and it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see it come to fruition, but it's just not available yet.

It's nice to dream though!

I was an entertainer for 20 years, behnd a microphone all the time. I had to quit about four years ago because of health reason. I was worried that my speaking skills were long gone when it came to a microphone. thanks for the encouraging note that all is okay.

There are a lot of us former entertainers out here, Desdemona. It's a wonderful venue; you can perform when you like, and the pressure of being "live" is missing. It's really quite relaxing to sit and read aloud for an hour or two.

Another advantage is that, unlike most of my paid performances, these things re actually worthwhile! It's great to have you aboard, Desdemona. It's always nice to hear a fresh voice in the mix!

Sorry I took so long to reply, but I had a friend come down here from Chicago and I confess that my priorities shifted a bit when I looked into her smiling eyes...

Your recordings are excellent, Patrick - thanks for submitting them! If I were to make a recommendation for something to work on next time, it would be to slow down just a tad; savor the words just a bit more rather than rushing to get through them. This will actually come naturally when you read works that take a bit longer to get through, so it's really not a big worry in any case.

I've finished #21, the Shepher'ds boy and the Wolf.

I wanted to post it here for criticism, since it is my very first. I feel I may have read a little fast. Also, I applied the "amplify THEN noise reduction" technique. I have the original saved, so if someone really likes, I can upload that for comparison. It's also quiet! I know you folks stress that, but I've upped EVERY mic setting I found to max, and this is all I get. Should I just err... speak up? (edit: I've found the 'mic boost' feature in the windows settings. This helps a lot, but I'm going to have to be very careful with noise editing! I'll rerecord and work on it!) I'm pretty pleased, though, overall.
