Of course it is! You can even suggest your own solos - as long as it fits the theme, everything is game!

The book sounds great! I guess we'll have to use a lot of vague references to random Pacific Islands for this leg of the tour...

There's Omoo, by Herman Melville. It takes place in Tahiti and some of the other islands.

A suggestion - you can't tell me it was a staff pick before , it has just been catalogued . Not really fairy stories - Maori legends about creation and how they reached New Zealand - as they came from somewhere it covers some of the islands too

The staff has picked for June 2012 - thanks for all your suggestions. Please have a look at this page for the current list. You can also check out our wiki page for a plain vanilla list, and we have another list with all the covers at a glance on the main m4b catalog page.

The theme for next month, rather fitting for hot summer days (and nights) is

Pulp (Non-) Fiction

I'd be interested in anything related to Pulp: science fiction/westerns/crime/newspapers/reporters/first published as a series/... or anything else July related...

Thanks for your help!

Like Magazines with short stories and serials and lurid covers that were made to be read and left on the train for the next person. Railway stations and newsagents sold them , not book stores. They were looked down upon somewhat by many. They came out at intervals and were numbered - like Fantasy Fiction 1970 vol. 3. I'm sure I have seen French equivalents

How about stuff by H.P.Lovecraft? In his lifetime his stories appeared only in magazines which I guess could be classified as specialised in pulp. On the other hand HPL himself appears to have resented this categorization and he didn't try to suit his way of writing to the rules of pulp fiction.
Here's the most complete collection of his stories we have:
http://librivox.org/collected-public-domain-works-of-h-p-lovecraft/

Btw. Phil has recorded lots of magazine-published s-f stories (which didn't have their copyright renewed). I guess he could throw one or two suggestions.

Would that qualify? Just because it was published in a journal first?
So was the Phantom of the Opera, by the way.
I am however quite sure that we won't be done with the English one by the end of the month, though...
The French one is available

Also, stuff by Robert E. Howard (the guy behind Conan).
For example "Red Nails" http://librivox.org/red-nails-by-robert-e-howard/

There's plenty of Edgar Rice Burroughs in our catalog.
