This is PL OK thanks. As long as they are a member of Librivox we can add them on to PL but I am currently doing it at the moment so there is no rush. ThanksNadfern wrote:Hi, Michele.

If you don't already have someone to proof-listen, please let me know, as I may have someone (a lot more experienced than me).
Thank you.

Hi, Michele. I have a question: the title of this Forum page says "Vol 4 part 3" but I have seen some people post their recordings saying vol6 part 2. Should I change my link description/label?
thanks.

I will reserve that section for you but you will need to complete your 1 minute test first and get the ok (see below). Also can you let me know how you would like your name to appear in the catalogue. It can be your forum name, real name, or any other pseudonym of your choice thanks.LillisJoy wrote:Hello!
May I please read Section 4?

Welcome to Librivox.
You may like to introduce yourself to the community in the "introduce yourself" forum: http://forum.librivox.org/viewforum.php?f=17
An overview of how Librivox works can be found here: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/How_LibriVox_Works
There are numerous ways to volunteer here. An important one is proof-listening, which consists of checking someone's recording for errors. If you'd like to give that a try, you can find lots of information here: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Guide_for_Proof-listeners
If you wish to try your hand at recording, the place to start is the Newbie Guide to Recording: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Newbie_Guide_to_Recording, which tells you how to set up your computer to record.
We urge you to make a "1 Minute Test" for review before you start actively recording. This is NOT an audition, but a way to check to make sure all your technical settings are correct, your volume loud enough, etc. You will find the information for the 1-Minute Test Recording here: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test. The instructions also tell you how to upload your test and then post in the Listeners and Editors Wanted forum so someone can give you feedback on it.
One of our volunteers has created a number of videos that you might find helpful to learn more about the workings of Librivox. You can find a listing of those here: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/User:Philchenevert
Also to point out to professional (or aspiring) Voice Over artists, all our recordings are put back into the public domain which means sometimes they are sold on ebay, etc. Have a look at this page which describes our Public Domain policy: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Copyright_and_Public_Domain
We hope you have fun and please, don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

The reading is great just some technical changes needed please.
1. The volume is a little low we aim for between 87 - 91 dB
If you are using Audacity the following will be helpful.
Someone made a plugin for Audacity that will tell you how much to amplify your recordings to get close to 89 dB right in Audacity.
- Click THIS LINK and save the file to your computer - your desktop or somewhere.
- Then go to the folder in which Audacity is installed (on my computer, it's in C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity) and open the Plug-Ins folder.
- Drag the file you saved into the Plug-Ins folder.
- The next time you start up Audacity, you can highlight your recording, then go to Analyze / ReplayGain, and it'll tell you how much to amplify your file.
2. There's a small program the spouse of a LibriVoxer developed to check the tech settings. If you're game, you can download it and use it to check the volume and other settings. It's here: http://cgjennings.ca/checker/
Use the latest version, which I believe is 0.95. The volume information is in the Information tab. We aim for 89 dB, but anything between about 87 and 91 is good.
3. The recording is in stereo and needs to be mono.

If you could carry out these edits and reupload using the same file name . Any problems please ask.
