I hope it's okay! My first chapter recording.

You've chosen quite a long section for your first, but it sounds wonderful
I always like to listen to a sample from new readers, but you will get a full report. Such a great recording voice!
I did notice that the opening silence is a tad long (should be 0.5 to 1.0 second) and at the end we need about 5 seconds.

Stand by for that report. I think our DPL is in for a treat. :)

Whoops! Well, the silence lengths are easy enough to fix. But I'll wait for the report(s) in case there's any other adjustments needed. For example I'm concerned I get too loud in some places, even though the volume of the file is ~89db I may have triggered some clipping, if that's the right term. Thank you for the compliments, I look forward to doing LOTS more reading/recording!

Terrific job. You did a really great job with the recording. As mentioned earlier, the start and ending silences need to be changed. Other than that I have only one comment.

Notes:
please delete around 0.5 seconds at the start so that there is between 0.5 and 1 second of silence
33:13 stutter "had out outrun them both" please delete the first "out"
please add about 4 seconds of silence at the end so that there is around 5 seconds total of silence

Definitely want to hear more from you. :)

Thanks,

M

Thanks so much for the feedback! I've made the silence length adjustments and deleted that stutter.

The file, now 36:08, is re-uploaded with the same file title. Is that right, or do second versions get a new version title?

Anyway, er, uhh, can I read Chapter 13? :D

Hi Larry,

May I take on section 6 - Winter Life and Innuit Friends ?

How quickly do you hope to have recordings in?

Thanks

Thank you for your interest in this project.
This is quite a long section to read for someone just starting out, however. I would strongly suggest you try something shorter to test the waters. I would expect a section of this size to take about two to three hours of recording and editing time.

I can still sign you up for this, but I do need to know exactly how you would like to be listed in the LibriVox catalog. This can be your real name, pseudonym, or any nickname/handle you wish. This is how you will be credited for all of your LV work.

Just let me know how you would like to proceed.

Oh, as you will see in the instructions in the head post of this project thread, we expect recordings to be submitted within two months of the initial claim. We do appreciate earlier submissions, however, especially when a project like this is almost full. Just do your best.
