I did my best with the dialects--such a sad story!

I'll keep my eyes open for PL notes. I already caught a few things, so I'm sure there will be more.

Thanks,
Stephanie

oh, indeed a tragic story :( I had to fight back tears in the end. And you narrated it so full of empathy and feeling, wonderful to listen to. Thank you so much. I think you did a great job with the dialect, it was indeed a challenge.

Textually no errors at all. I would make a few suggestions to cut the silence over 2 seconds a little bit down. Some parts sounded a bit dragged out before the story continued. Could you crop these a little bit please:

> from 0:28 to 0:30: (p. 21) between "Philip Verrill Mighels" and "down the side"
> from 3:14 to 3:16: (p. 22) between "Indian youngster" and "there on the ground"
> from 8:06 to 8:08: (p. 24) between "and assured" and "with night"
> from 10:42 to 10:45: (p. 25) between "little Washoe" and "all that day"
> from 14:38 to 14:40: (p. 27) between "little chap" and "then came"
> from 14:58 to 15:00: (p. 27) between "nor deep" and "and all that morning"

the rest was perfect, thanks. Happy to have your voice among the Black Cat readers 8-)

Thank you so much for the encouragement! I decided to just go for it with the expression, and I'm glad it worked (at least for you).

The two-second rule is a good one that I either never knew or had forgotten.

I cut the silence down by about a second in each place (about two seconds on the fourth note).

Let me know if there's anything else. :)

well it is not a hard-and-fast "rule" as such. It might also be highly personal, but to me as extensive DPL listener, I feel it always unnecessarily dragged out when silences are over 2 seconds, sometimes even much longer. It tends to drag me out of the flow of the story. So I prefer to mention it to the reader. And after the cropping the storyflow is much better.

Thanks for the fast turn-around, this is now PL ok. And maybe I'll hear you again in a Black Cat down the road. Still plenty of magazines to finish.

 wow now that was a very long story. But beautifully narrated and with an intriguing outcome, since it's ambiguous who survived and who died. I guess every reader can make up their own mind about this.

Wonderfully done, Laurie, thank you so much. Textually all perfect, but there is one part that would benefit from re-recording:

> from 40:54 to 40:57: (p. 39) "while the bubbles flowed down from hilt to point" - there is a prolonged loud rustling in this sentence

thank you

hehe, wonderfully entertaining. Old Pruitt was one of its kind. An amusing story and amusingly narrated. You did quite well in the dialect, that sounded tricky. :?

Totally PL ok Greg, thank you so much.

Waiting for one more section to come in, then it's time to launch the next Cat 8-)

Thank you!

I admit I had to record Old Pruitt's (the character) lines three times until I felt comfortable with them. I wanted his voice to reflect that he was an uneducated outcast or subject of ridicule in his town who obviously did not fit in with the more educated men. It was much more challenging then I thought it would be but was a lot of fun to record.

Take care,

Greg

thank you, Julie. A bit bitter-sweet, with the sad demise of the lover, but I can totally relate to this strong love-bond between sisters. :9: A lovely story, lovely told. Absolutely PL ok.

Now awaiting only one more section, this means I can launch the next issue. 8-)
