Yes, I feel that way, too. I could manage Spanish if I tried hard enough, but mine is really a reading knowledge of that language, with a dictionary close by.Piotrek81 wrote: ↑July 22nd, 2022, 7:36 amThe only ones that I read/comprehend well enough to record a section in are my native Polish and English. I once tried recording something in Spanish but I ended up tripping over my tongue and looking up way too many words. The pronunciation is predictable but I don't think it makes much sense to record something when you don't understand a substantial part of what you're reading. Also muttering to yourself is one thing, but a finished recording should preferably sound like a coherent text rather than a collection of arduously articulated sentences

Here's another chapter. I think the book itself is still "in progress".

Kevin, after listening to my two sections again, I decided that I read a little too slowly (it's about time I realised this!). So I've increased the tempo by 5% and reuploaded. The files don't need to be PL'd again. Sussex is now 16.49, Pagan 22.18.
I'm going to do this for all my future recordings, too.

And another; technically, the recording is just section one (of three) from chapter one, but I think it gives a taste of the author's style.

key words: козак, козаки, пан, помста, чайковський, Україна, запорожці, Січ, Запорізька Січ, слободи, село, батько, гайдук, лях
Good collection for understanding whether it would be interesting to record a book you found. Because I usually don't like to read the book twice.
