BOILER and FURNACE TESTING

It's about 11,000 words total, about half of that is a big table. Would it be possible to omit the table?
Well, if one WERE to read the table, it would certainly be boring enough!

But yes, the rest of it could be read. It appears to be about 5700 words without the table, so it should be more than 30 minutes.
Shucks. A little research shows he died in 1961 - 59 years ago. This means the work is not PD for me in the UK.

You know you are a true Librivox nerd when you squeal out loud with delight that there is a new Insomnia collection opened. My wife laughed at me.

I think I last contributed to this genre several years ago, submitting an almost incomprehensible treatise on Brythonic Celtic linguistics called “The Cornish Mutations”.

But the Snooze Muse ... (that’s you, Tricia  ) ... has sent forth the call again, so I think that this time it’ll be something from the wide, wide world of 19th Century engineering.

I’ll see what I can turn up.

Cheers,
Chris

I enjoyed contributing to the last one. I'll have to find something good again for this one.

Tricia, what is the procedure if the mid-19th century author is so obscure that no-one lists his DOB or DOD, but gutenberg and archive.org accept him as PD?

I want to claim the Grinnel College Directory.

After years of suffering through soccer results, it shouldn't be hard to project those emotions into a recording so boring that it requires a health warning for aquatic and feathered life.

Ha ha! Go for it!

If Gutenberg accepts it as PD in the USA, it's PD for LibriVox. We'd only have to know a death year for folks like us outside the USA.

Let's see... written in 1864. Say he was 20 when he wrote it - that puts his birth at 1844. If he lived 100 years, he died in 1944. Thus he's PD for you in Australia. QED.

Oh god, I got 15 minutes in and nearly sent myself into a coma. It'll probably be 70 minutes if anyone manages it.

 Yeah, I should have a warning on this project that it may not only put listeners to sleep, but the readers themselves!

Wait til it’s time to edit your recording!!

I think the dedicated prooflisteners for these collections deserve medals!
