That was a little mean. They have 6 copies of each picture. They could have let him have one.
21:38 More learning! I haven’t heard bouy pronounced as you did but it is listed as an alternative pronunciation. ˈbü-ē , ˈbȯi \

true !!! I didn't even think about that at that pointlinny wrote:That was a little mean. They have 6 copies of each picture. They could have let him have one.
oh ! I didn't know that one. It's probably British, which I learnt in school. In wiktionary they say the "received" pronunciation is a homophone of "boy", and American is "boo-ee". So I guess it's the typical British/American difference.21:38 More learning! I haven’t heard bouy pronounced as you did but it is listed as an alternative pronunciation. ˈbü-ē , ˈbȯi \

The longest chapter so far, I had to record it in 5 shorter sessions. But it turned out well, I think.

I needed a break. That was a good one.
Very minor and certainly optional.
2:17 Warder and prisoner took up their positions before the cord which was drawn across the room, and on the other side of which sat the governor at his table.
This caught my ear. It sounds like court
6:17 I don’t think that I was startled, because I had half expected that she would come to me in some such way as that.
This caught my ear. It sounds like had had
31:14 And, almost simultaneously, the key was turned in the well-oiled lock.
I’m only finding this defined with a long i.

this is again a British/American thing it seems. Wikipedia lists both: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/simultaneous#Englishlinny wrote:31:14 And, almost simultaneously, the key was turned in the well-oiled lock.

and even in your Merriam Webster there is the addition "\ ˌsī-məl-ˈtā-nē-əs , -nyəs also ˌsi- \"
so I will leave this one, the other two I will correct because I really said "court" there LOL I also wondered about it when I heard it a last time but didn't think to check
Thanks !

I must be even more tired than I feel (and that's saying something). Sorry about that. Thank you for the correction.Kitty wrote: also ˌsi-

no need to apologize. I prefer you tell me one correction too many, which I can ignore than not telling me and in the end it was wrong.linny wrote:I must be even more tired than I feel (and that's saying something). Sorry about that. Thank you for the correction.
I am very sorry that you are feeling so tired though maybe call it a day for today ? I hope you get some rest over the weekend.
I reuploaded and corrected the two sentences, on the same spot of course than before

One more page to write and then I'm calling it a day. I am so close to finally being caught up and I have class tomorrow so a little tired is ok for today. It's been a very productive week. Thank you for your concern.

oh school tomorrow sorry. Here we don't have school on Saturdays anymore. We had to go when I was a kid, but it has changed shortly after I left highschool (typical my luck LOL)linny wrote:One more page to write and then I'm calling it a day. Returning adult student = odd hours.
Classroom time is every other Saturday. 8-noon and 1-5. Long days but that's the schedule so there I go. I just wish it didn't take me almost 3 hours to get there and then another 3 back. ugh. With the hurricane and other issues this term I had to drop a class so at least I don't have to go up the night before and stay in a hotel. My class is the 1-5 slot so I'll do the round trip drive and be able to stay in my own bed.
