Hi Beth! Not very much - a few words, such as "avanti" and "buon giorno" and the like. If that sounds okay, let me know and I'll sign you up!Elizabby wrote:I am interested, but I don't speak Italian at all. How much Italian are we talking about for Archie?

Here is Robert Hand, Act 1 (25:49).

I made one correction to the text. On page 17 of the text (00:21 in the recording), Robert says of the roses he has brought, "I am afraid they are not mine," which doesn't particularly make sense. Other editions agree that that should be, "I am afraid they are not nice."

Thanks, Bruce! Yes, that correction makes sense; thanks for catching it.
Here's Archie! I had a little crash course in Italian, so I hope it sounds plausible! One of the lines I've done twice - the first time is plain, the second time with a "kiss" sound in the middle (as described in the narration) because I wasn't sure if you were doing narration or voice effects.

Here is Beatrice, both acts. Will need some noisecleaning, I'm afraid (but it should be relatively easy compared to my setup of the last few months...)

Hello! Newly graduated and occasional Librivox contributor.
Thanks, Tortilla! That's fine - I don't think we have an Irish accent in this whole cast.
Not here! Poor Archie, an Italian speaking Irish boy, is being read by an Australian woman who speaks zero Italian! I had to look up "addio"!

Some of my lines are coming out of my mouth with a lilt not of my doing! It's just there! Now I have to try and balance those lines with lines that don't lilt and not make it sound like a bad imitation of an Irish accent. (or two different people reading Brigid!)

No worries, Bev! I have a feeling I will have a similar problem. I'm sure your Brigid will be wonderful however she sounds!
