Yay!!! Glad you're planning to attend... we're going to have soooo much fun!!!

When you go to the LVWiki page (here: http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/OtherProjects/Gathering2007 ) ... there's a link to Edit the page (right under the tabs) ... you might need to register and sign-in before you can edit though... (this page has how-tos for using the LVWiki: http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/BeginnersGuideLibrivoxWiki =)

It took me a bit but I finally found the little bitty login word just left of the center at the top of the page. I fearlessly clicked and clicked hoping I didn't screw the whole thing up.

I am a 100% new to Wiki's, hints about using very much welcomed!

Does the Seattle event cover California, or is there interest in the Libri-Cali Crew doing something in the Golden State?

Everyone's welcome to attend any of the locations (no matter where they are from) ... Coordinating a California location is fine too =)

My long [strike]suffering[\strike] supportive wife and I just had a chat. I may be willing to coordinate a Canadian meeting if we could have it here in Midand on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay. May 4 is still the off-season so we may be able to get decent room rates too.

Now thats almost too close hee hee. Almost me backyard but also very doable. I might even be able to help your wife (or you) coordinate. Of course my job doesn't end till April 30th But I would be able to help.

Event Idea:

In addition to planned recording moments... It would be especially cool to plan some field trips in each location... (i.e. in Chicago we could go to the Art Museum or the Shedd Aquarium)... it would also be very cool for us to do some on-location recordings.. record poetry or short works by authors who spent time at the location... or other themed bits while visiting museums, restaurants, shops, etc.

I noticed that there are some other ideas posted to the Event Planning page... feel free to bring them up and discuss them in this thread... as we get closer to the event date, we can nail down some specific readings for each location as well as any other logistics.

EDIT: I've updated the first post with the list of activity ideas for quick reference =)

Speaking of logistics...

If anyone wants to fly to Chicago for the event, I will be able to assist in providing transportation from the airport to lodgings.

Man, I'm so glad I have an MP3 player with a record option. The audio isn't amazing, but acceptable for LV.

If no one shows up in NY, I'm tempted to fly to the place of my choice. Mmmm... London sounds good.

And don't forget I have a portable, battery operated, 8 track recorder a bit smaller than a laptop! Bids for an audio engineer, anyone?

I do everything on my laptop. I'm totally portable so can supply recordability. Also have built-in wireless so it would be great if where ever we are had wireless internet. Especially if we wanted to do multiple location recording.
