As I am reading through my section before I record, I realized that the book being old has some letters that are smudged and are not readable. Some I can figure out within the context, like "the" and "an" etc. but some I am not able to decipher. For example page 492, last line, ..."he for some time
bleaded at the bar." Is it "bleaded" at the bar or "pleaded" at the bar? Can't tell. If I look at the "b" and "p" of other sentences, this one looks like a "b" but I can't be sure. I don't think Ive heard that phrase before. :) Any tips and pointers on how best to figure such things out in the rest of the pages? Thanks.

Hello, Vinita! As for this example, I believe the word is "pleaded." That fits the context.
In general, after doing much of this kind of recording, one gets an idea of what the smudged words are most likely to be. Please ask when you want help deciphering them. Keep up the good work!
