• 00:00 Note (no change needed): There was some electrical hum on the recording. It might be that you have a microphone cable very close to a power cable or you might have a USB microphone plugged into a computer on AC power (not a laptop on battery) and the microphone is drawing power through the computer which can cause problems. One way to remove it in post-processing is a notch filter but it's better if you can track down the source and eliminate it. The hum is within what is acceptable for a Librivox recording but I just thought I should mention it.

Thank you for these tips! Unfortunately when I listen to my recording I am not hearing any kind of hum at all either through the speakers of my laptop or through the headphones. I am also not hearing the hum in the example recording in the instruction video about the notch filter.

I followed the instructions about how to to use the notch filter but very difficult to do when I can't hear the noise that I am meant to filter out!
However, I will try in future to do recordings with my laptop running off battery, rather then plugged in, so to see if this makes any difference.
