Thank you, Pier! I think it would be great to have this bilingual version available to make the text more accessible. However, I'm reluctant to include a link to it, because I'm not aware that we have ever linked to translations which aren't included in the reading in general, and non-PD translations in particular. I would encourage you to upload it to the Archive with a title that makes it clear that it's a bilingual version. If there's a sufficient match on the keywords, it may even appear automatically among the suggestions at the Archive page of this collection.

Michael
Thanks Michael,
I revised the title of the "bilingual" text file. Here is the new link:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nJ7JBxt36UgSQcwSLPV2Hls0wkTPyDxY/view?usp=sharing
The title of the file is now:
"Bilingual version of Ninna-Nanna published on Ordine Nuovo the 19.01.1921"
I hope this helps,

Pier

Hi DC,

Good news! I've received a PM from a PL volunteer who has kindly checked your recording, with the help of their Bengali-speaking friend, and we can now mark it PL OK.

It was just a suggestion in case you wanted to upload it to the Archive yourself. We can't do that on behalf of LV... sorry. Here's a guide:

Michael,
sorry but i have still one remark on “Ninna-nanna”:
I have seen that the link to the text in the MW brings to the first page of Ordine Nuovo dated 1.01.1921.
From there you could arrive to page 2 of Ordine nuovo dated 9.01,1921, where you can find the text, but you shoud know the date and the page.
Would it be possible to insert in the MW instead one of the two following links, driving directly to the correct page?

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EfgVE3MO0T4rYDKggfBpKpbIVebyyBOS/view?usp=sharing
or

Hi Pier,

There seems to be a bug in how this long URL is handled in the MW. It's not being saved correctly. I'll try to fix it on the Archive page after the project is cataloged. I'm afraid we can't use a private Google Drive link in the catalog. :(

It could be enough to indicate with the link: "The text of the poem can be found at page 2 of the newspaper release dated 19.01.1921"

Hi,

It would be great to have this work in the collection. Unfortunately, as explained in the instructions at the top of this thread, in order to ensure that the recording is in the public domain in the US, where our servers are located, we need to verify the publication date of the edition you read from. I don't see a publication date on the title page of this source. In fact, I don't see a title page at all. It seems to be a modern digital edition rather than a scan of an old edition. I'm afraid we can't accept a recording made from it. :(

The Wikisource version of this work in the original Bengali is accompanied by a scan of the 1913 edition, and so we could use that, in case you're willing to read in Bengali:

Hi,

Great to see another poem in Hindi! I can't find the publication date in the PDF, but I see that the publication year of 1900 in the metadata provided by the University of Toronto is accepted by Open Library and Scholar's Portal, so we can go with that. Could you provide the spelling of the title in Hindi and tell us the page in book where this poem appears? Here's the Archive reader page:

https://archive.org/details/kavyadhara00chauuoft/mode/2up

Also, do you have any more information about the author (Markande)? I can't find any information about them.

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Hindi spelling of the poet : मार्कण्डेय
Title in Hindi : प्रकाश का प्यासा on page no 142 on the book (pdf doc pg no 148)

Surprisingly, I cannot find any information on the poet either, atleast not among the earlier writers, but again I'm not very familiar with Hindi literature.
As you know, I've been searching for Hindi prose and poetry before 1925. After my previous attempts with short stories I didn't want to go wrong with the date again. On searching for short works in Hindi before 1925 Archive brought up this book which seemed safe and I hadn't looked up the poets' backgrounds. Hope it'll be acceptable.

Thank you
