No, don't worry about it...like I said....it was a late night and it was a short chapter...kinda did it on a whim....I will not be put out at the least...last time I checked Guttenberg there were still one or two books that needed to be recorded  You have the readers you need for this one...can't wait to hear the finished product. Go ahead and do them Acrobatty. The last thing I want to do is ruffle any feathers. I just figured I could save someone some work, if they wanted?since I already had the chapter recorded, but the work is done?all?s well that ends well?as my teenager says..."It?s all good".

psst... if you're ever in the mood to record spontaneously... how about picking a short story and submitting it here: *shameless plug* http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1131

Even if you pick a story that someone else has done, we enjoy hearing different versions of the same story... but what are the chances really, of picking a duplicate with thousands of stories from which to choose =)

Here's a tip for when you pick a story from Gutenberg: copy the text you're actually going to read (not the legal stuff at the beginning - just the text) into a Notepad file and save it. Then look at the size of the file you just saved.

In general it takes about 5 minutes to read 4k worth of text. Thus a 25k file will produce about a half hour worth of reading. A 50k file will be about an hour long. A 625k file will take about 13 hours.

It's useful information to have at hand when picking something to read...

Oh good. Truly, I was getting worried we'd be out of things to record!

Man you cracked me up. I'm too easily amused.

Thanks, Kara. It's not too loud, is it? My hubby does all the editing. I was concerned about it, because I thought it sounded too nasal, but I guess you are always your worst critic, right?

Nope, sounds GREAT. It's good to be nice and loud! We have a lot of problems with files that are too quiet, so when I start up a new one and it comes pouring out of my speakers and I actually have to turn it DOWN a notch, I'm delighted :) I don't notice a nasal quality at all. Yep, we're all our own worst critics, at first anyway. I actually enjoy listening to my recordings now! I've heard my own voice so much that it doesn't sound funny and squeaky and strange anymore.

One little tip for your editor-husband -- try not to let gaps of actual dead silence into the recording. If he needs to add a little bit of quiet between sentences, try to copy a bit of ambient room noise from another spot between sentences and paste it in where he needs the bit of quiet. I noticed just few spots of dead silence near the beginning, but it's no big deal -- just a tip for next time :)

Thanks, Patti!

Kara,
We finally sold our house so we are going to be moving to Montana in the next month (March), therefore I will try to record Chapter 37 and send it to you by tomorrow or the next day. I want to get the recording out of the way before everything gets crazy here!

Oh congratulations, Patti! We're going through the same thing down here, except in my case the final destination is South Carolina.

Best of luck! :D

Sounds good, Patti :)

(We're asking people to leave three seconds of quiet at the end -- I can add it myself this time, so don't worry about it.)

Thanks!

Thanks for taking care of that, Kara. I knew to leave three seconds of quiet at the end but I just forgot. I will tell my husband that, too.

I had some inexplicable static troubles, and did everything I could to minimize the static. Hope they sound OK...
