I haven't yet become involved in weekly poetry, but have recently read some poems for the two German projects we have going, and now I seem to be hooked - the best thing about it is that it's so very quick to edit!

And I still would have waited, but then you came up with this poem, which has some significance for me - my partner Brian recited it for me (he knows it by heart) once when we were out sailing. When we bought a boat a couple of years ago, we briefly toyed with the idea of calling it The Owl and the Pussycat, and discarded it (good thing, too, as a lot of other yachties had that idea before us! Also, not very convenient when on the ship's radio - in an emergency one is supposed to spell out the yacht's name in international code - you know, tango-hotel-echo etc!).

Anyway I wish he were here to record it, too, but he's only back on Sunday, whence it will be too late. Some other time, perhaps, for one of the poetry collections. In any case here, in lieu as it were, is my recording.

I didn't say anything at the end - not 'end of poem' - just stopped with a 5s silence. Is that all right, if not I can easily change.

But is it a pea-green boat? :)

Thank you all; I've downloaded, but need to be abed early. I'll listen tomorrow.

Gesine, I'm getting a very strange error message from yousendit when I try that link ... and I didn't get the usual email from the site. Could you upload it again, please?

Thanks,

Peter

Sorry Peter, I chopped off the e from planet... this time it should work:

In the catalogue as Gesine, please. No URL.

No, not a pea-green boat... boats are rarely green - many yachties are weirdly superstitious about the colour green on board; supposed to bring bad luck.

Gesine,

Got it, thanks. The "e" is on the end of "planete" because I like the word peripatetic and the sort-of alliteration with "pete". ... I and tend to think of my life as wandering rather than directed. So when I needed to choose an email address I wanted some pete and peripatetic combination but couldn't find one that I liked and hadn't already been used.

Then I remembered that the word planet comes from a greek word planete, which means "wanderer" ... and Robert is your mother's brother!

It's got a nice beat. You can dance to it. Dick, I give it an 8. :)

I had to record it as soon as I read it, cause, you know, it was going to be singing along in my head all day regardless. Although, for some reason, sometimes 'dish ran away with the spoon' just scrambles in and pops up there in the grain matter. Dang earworms :P

Here is mine:

I went ahead and added my initials to the Title ID3 tag since it seems like a convention we probably ought to adopt.

Don't worry about it for this week, though, I can add them easily enough while cataloging and we'll add it to the requirements in the initial post for next week.

Speaking of next week - may I do one? I'm thinking Wordsworth or Emily Dickinson. I'm happy to do the coordination, and could meta it myself so there's no need to shuffle files.

Gesine, you're an angel. I *guess* I'll let you do all that nitpicky meta work. :D

Well Chip, since I'm in one of these rare and generous moods, why don't you tell us which one you wanted to suggest, and I'll still coordinate and meta it, if you like! (actually, I'm still looking for the two Wordsworth poems I wanted and cannot find them, and have browsed Dickinson all last night and just cannot decide, they're all so nice...)
