Sorry if I'm out of line, I'm new here.

Seeing that the works of Jules Verne are popular here, I guessed that the Tom Swift books would be as well. A search turned up nothing. At least some of them should be PD in the US, the first came out in 1910:

Any takers? Again, I'm new, but I'd be willing to coordinate. Or even do it solo. Unless these books are still under copyright somehow.

Thanks to both of you for responding.

The list has 25 books. The link shows 12 done. Two of those are from the TS Jr series, so that's ten done out of the list, leaving 15 still to do.

If we don't have a public domain book, it's either because there isn't an online text available or because nobody has chosen to record it yet.

Here's a list of titles on Gutenberg. The search for "tom swift" pulls up 32 results but some are duplicates and some are audiobooks. They are all most likely public domain in the US but I haven't checked (you can find this by clicking on a title, then looking under the Bibrec tab).

p.s. You aren't missing anything :)

There isn't a Librivox recording of the first book in the Tom Swift series! There should be! I'd love to read it!

I would contribute as well. Just a note, LV is currently recording a Tom Swift book by Appleton already: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=49049

Perhaps Claire and MaryAnn, who are coordinating the current Tom Swift book, would be willing to take this up later.

Because I'm already procrastinating today, I decided to start the first Tom Swift book (and His Motorcycle) as a group project, I'll add the link to the above post when it's underway!

Faded page has the rest of them. You will have to pay attention to the publication date. I never tried to push them to pg as the pd date has changed.

Yeah, I did TS and the Visitor from Planet X. It is one of only two TS, Jr. titles that slipped through copyright renewal. I looked at the earlier TS titles, and man, they are really, really racist, so that was a bit of a turnoff.

BTW, TS and His Motorcycle is currently in Readers Wanted and is completely open.
