Adventures of the Teenie Weenies by William Donahey (1883 - 1970).

This project is complete and can be found in our catalog at http://librivox.org/adventures-of-the-teenie-weenies-by-william-donahey/
The Teenie Weenies are people two inches tall who live under a rose bush with "real world" size materials made from discarded objects like hats, jars, barrels, kegs, and boxes - all of which were gigantic to them. Each Teenie Weenie has a unique personality that both names them and defines how they interact with the world and each other. The General is in charge and runs the tiny village, the Cook of course is in charge of food, the Fireman, the Policeman, The Turk, the Indian, The Cowboy, the Chinese Man, Grandma, Grandpa, The Lady of Fashion and many many more have many adventures. These stories are not long and if popular I might post more Teenie Weenie books. ( Phil Chenevert)
  • ]Hi All, and welcome to the delightful world of the Teenie Weenies. These stories are all about 600 words each (4 pages) except for the first one which is about 900 so don't be afraid to grab a bunch. Open the link to the text in a new tab to see the story more easily. If no page count is listed, they are 4 pages.
CAUTION for easily offended people: There are many stereotypes of races, countries and professions used throughout these stories as accepted by people in this country 100 years ago as well as speaking dialect that was hilarious then but would be tsk, tsked now. The Teennies are all friendly, busy and get along well, but are a snapshot of the melting pot that was this country at the time. Just so you won't be shocked by a Chinaman with a queue. This series was originally a cartoon published in a newspaper...and remember to have fun reading 'em.

    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (PLEASE USE THE LINKS IN THE MAGIC WINDOW-OPEN IN A NEW TAB): the whole book is here though http://www.childrensbooksonline.org/Adventures_of_the_Teenie_Weenies/pages/01_Adventures_of_the_Teenie_Weenies.htm
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Make sure you add this to the beginning of your recording:
      START of recording (Intro)
      • "Chapter [number] of Adventures of the Teenie Weenies. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
      • If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"

Please remember to check this thread frequently for updates!
    8. AFTER recording
      Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The new (free) version 1.3.3. of Audacity has much improved noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.
      Save files as
      128 kbps MP3
      adventuresoftheteenieweenies_##_donahey_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. adventuresoftheteenieweenies_01_donahey.128kb.mp3)
    9. Example ID3 V2 tags
(To find out more about ID3 tags, go to our wiki: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/What_is_ID3)
Add the following tags to your .mp3 file (how you do this depends on which software you use – if you are unsure about ID3 tags, send me a message). Please mind upper and lower case!
      Artist: Wm. Donahey
      Title: ## - [Section title]
Album: Adventures of the Teenie Weenies

Please ignore tags for Genre and Track Number - these will be filled in automatically at the cataloguing stage.
Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
      • Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader: http://librivox.org/login/uploader
        Image
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)
      • You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: philchenevert - philchenevert
      • When your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread.
      • If this doesn't work, or you have questions, please check our How To Send Your Recording wiki page.

Cool :) - I'll be my first DPL job, so if someone can help me with sticky decisions and stuff it would be appreciated, as I get into it. (?)
Looking forward to it getting going.

Well this is wonderful. I'm always glad to have someone new to DPLing. First, I'd like to recommend that you read the wiki about proof listening and watch this video Proof Listening 101.

The basic stuff is there but please ask any questions at all. You do not need to check ID3 tags (Metadata) at all. the stuff at http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17680 is helpful too. Your real job is to watch the Magic Window for "Ready for PL", download the file, listen for any big problems and then post the results.

You should be able to get into the Magic Window after watching the video. If not, let me know. and welcome again.

Thanks a lot. I have read the wiki but haven't seen the video yet.
I have picked up half a book as DPL when someone else couldn't continue (Half Past Bedtime) - so have PL'd 2 chapters so far on that & can work the MW.

Thanks for all of your help. I'm looking forward to helping with this project.

I have another one called "the DPL and the Magic Window" but it is a bit outdated now. I will make another one soon.
