The Anti-Coup by Gene Sharp (1928 - 2018) & Bruce Jenkins (?-?) .

This project is complete and all audio files can be found in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/the-anti-coup-by-gene-sharp/

This project was abandoned and is now open as a group project.
Volunteers outside the USA: Suthor died in 2018. The author's work is still protected by copyright in places like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years, Australia (author's death plus 70 years for authors who died after 1955), UNLESS the rule of shorter term applies.
Supporters of political democracy, human rights, and social justice have good reasons to be alarmed about coups d'état. These abrubpt seizures of the state apparatus have occured with great frequency in recent decades. Coups have overthrown established constitutional democratic systems of government, halted movements toward greater democracy, and have imposed brutal and oppressive regimes. Coups d'état are one of the main ways in which new dictatorships are established. Couples may also precipitate civil wars and international crisis. Coups remain a major unsolved defense problem. This book describes an anti-coup policy focussed on defense of the society by the society itself, using non-violent methods. The two basic principles of anti-coup defense promoted in this book are to: 1) deny the legitimacy to the putschists, and 2) to resist the putschists with noncooperation and defiance. (Summary by Benjamin Gittins)
  1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you'd like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
  2. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
  3. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen.
Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
  4. Where do I find the text?
Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.aeinstein.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/TAC-1.pdf or https://archive.org/details/TheAnti-coup
  5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)!
If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Benjamin,

Your co-reader has to apply to LibriVox in the normal way and has to do a test.

Will do.. To provide a little information in the interim, her name is Fuchsia. :-) She is no stranger to the microphone. I've sent her some information about the login process, etc. Cheers - Benjamin.

I have now recorded about 2 hours and 25 minutes of audio. This represents the body of the text. Originally i had estimated it may need 2 sections.,, it will probably require more.. I will start post production on the audio shortly.

Fuchsia has been invited to record the Appendixes.

Cheers - Benjamin

Welcome kajo!

To make things easier I added 3 more sections. I can always change that afterwards.

Over to going solo.

Doesn't make a lot of difference. In fact it should be Readers Found.

Hi Bart,

I have talked with Fuchsia, and she is happy to read every alternating section.

There is about 85 minutes of audio, and 37 sections, with an average time per section of around 4 minutes. This seems a bit small to break up each into it's own files???

What do you advise?
