I know a better cataloge is in the works, so maybe this suggestion is not nescessary anmore. Anyway.

When you are on a catalogs bookpage, it'd be awsome to have "poetry", "short works" or "Books" somewhere.

I hoped It would be perceivable in the URL. but it isn't! Doh! I wonder how you keep a complete picture and get it managed on the server. Respect.

Often when i get "deeplinked" to books in the catalogue, i don?t know where i am. This is painfully inconvenient. I have to find the link out of there, reorient myself, find the Title where i have just been in the list and go back there. Now i know where i was. >> "Ah, it was a poem!"

This might, even worse, happen to people who googled us and who don?t know their way around in the slightest way.

Stephan, that is a very practical idea and we will incorporate it when we automate the catalog with a database.

At the moment, everything is done semi-manually, with some automation for validating the files and generating the HTML for the catalog page. The database backend is still under development. But it is coming, and the meta-coordinators who do all the hard work behind the scenes are anxiously waiting for it.

LibriVox has really exploded beyond anyone's initial expectations. Who knew that four months down the road we'd have over 40 completed works and more than twice that many in production? It's exciting but moving faster than we can keep up with sometimes!

Hello Kristen, thanks for replying.
Yeh, i know, its fast at the moment.
Thats why i began with "better cataloge is in the works, so maybe this suggestion isn't nescessary"...

I just punch in whenever i note something - using forum like a community-notepad. Although everybody is deep in caring about something, every one has something where he puts in a lot of work, who knows, maybe someone still finds time to pick it up and take care of it too. Thats why we?re a community. Input can?t be bad. If too much input, then nobody cares...but thats not bad....the input is still there and thats good.

Stephan -- great suggestion, and I'm sure it will be much easier to find where you are after we get the database going. Right now all the catalog pages are in ONE BIG DISORGANIZED PILE! UGH!

But, it'll be better some day :)

Kristen, It's hard to believe how much librivox has expanded, isn't it? It just boggles the mind. I think it must mean that we are pleasing most of our visitors, most of the time, so that's heartening :)
