Hi,
Some help...
My recordings sound so bad and I know I need a preamplifier. Does anybody know this one?
http://www.behringer.com/MIC100/index.cfm?lang=ENG
Would it work with this mic?

Thanks in advance,
Renne

Hi Renne!
I'm not familiar with either unit, but reading the specs they should have no problem with one another. But the problem is that you'll still be using the computer's line-in for sound input. Unless you have an expensive sound card, the quality will always be of a poor quality. Plus you'd have to have a 1/4" to 1/8 adaptor that will surely result in a number of other transmission problems.
I'm suspecting, by the pricing, that you're on a budget. You may wish to find not a vacuum tube preamp but a more expensive USB interface that will accept either a dynamic or a condensor mike, just as this unit does. (You may wish one day to upgrade to a much better mike.) You'll find the recording so much better via USB. You'll have to look around to see what you can find. More and more less expensive ones are coming out these days. The prices were once high, but I think you can find something. They will probably not have a limiter like this one does, so you'll have to monitor your volume levels carefully.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask away!
Maybe look into this:

Hi Cloud Mountain,
Thank you for your helpful answer. You're right, my soundcard is a very simple one and I don't think this device would solve my problem.
I just thought of an amplifier as a way to increase the microphone level without increasing the noise level at the same proportion, as it currently happens when I try to adjust the mic volume in Audacity.
I'll look for some USB interface, as you recommended. The problem is that they are so hard to find here where I live, and if I try to buy abroad, the shipping tax probably will be more expensive than the product itself.
But I'll keep looking (or waiting until they become more popular here )
Thanks again
