I went out on Friday and Saturday night with friends and due to the excessive amount of talking (while in noisy bars) I had no voice all Sunday and bad throat pains.
Its monday morning now and I still cant talk properly and cant raise my voice about a certain pitch. So I'm having to use a very low gravelly tone.
Anyone got any tips to aid the recovery process?
Tips on recovering a lost voice
Don't talk much, and try some hot soothing drinks.MisterSam wrote:I went out on Friday and Saturday night with friends and due to the excessive amount of talking (while in noisy bars) I had no voice all Sunday and bad throat pains.

Basically the same as you would with any other strain: rest, anti-inflammatory pain reliever (ibuprofen) and hot or cold compresses (i.e. drinks.)
Honey is excellent for sore throats, very soothing.
Hope you feel better soon!

And a natural antiseptic... in case there's something else in there taking advantage of the strain.fae wrote:Basically the same as you would with any other strain: rest, anti-inflammatory pain reliever (ibuprofen) and hot or cold compresses (i.e. drinks.)

Might as well have fun as you suffer.
Whatever you do, don't push it. And lay off the Gauloises for a few days.

There's honestly no such thing as a stupid question -- but I'm afraid I can't rule out giving a stupid answer : : To Posterity and Beyond!

I've had laryngitis many times after colds, and it usually takes at least 2-3 days for my voice to return. I agree with the other posters -- there isn't much you can do except wait it out and stay quiet (don't even whisper). Hot tea and anti-inflammatories help a sore throat, but in my experience, strained vocal cords just need time and rest. Hope you feel better soon.

For the real hard core, of course, the rule is: no talking except into a microphone for LibriVox...

Boy, doesn't my husband wish I followed that rule!CarlManchester wrote:For the real hard core, of course, the rule is: no talking except into a microphone for LibriVox...
