A friend of mine on a mailing list just sent a link to a collection of reviews on Amazon by people who thought Lewis was taking product placement ads, and that "The Grapes of Wrath" was all about dirt. They're pretty funny:

Thanks for posting that Catharine, it cracked me up! I loved the comment about The Tropic of Cancer: ?This book is one of the worst books I have ever read. I got to about page 3-4.? I wonder how many pages s/he reads before choosing a best book s/he has ever read!!

To Kill a Mockingbird (my favorite book ever):

I remember, back in my AP class in high school, convincing our sub (who had her Masters in English Lit) that the Grapes of Wrath was all about a turtle.

You should never leave a n00b sub alone with an AP English class for 90 minutes, bad things will always happen to them.

What you don?t realize, is that still to this day, at cocktail parties, she makes her colleagues pee when she recounts her experience of the supposedly ?AP? English class that seriously thought that the Grapes of Wrath was all about a turtle.

favourite rotten review, not sure who the reviewer was, writing about a production of chekov's Uncle Vanya:
