MEDIA ALERT! ALL HANDS ON DECK!!!
Heehee!!! It's possible!
The article *is* in an odd section -- business, then technology. I've never read a "business" section of a newspaper in my life, so I'd certainly have missed it.
I got a phone call from an author in Vista (nearby town) who said he was interested in having us (me?) read his newly-published book... I asked him to email me further info.

How many of us read this and thought "Is that my reading he is referring to?" I know I certainly did. For all I can judge about my own readings, I'm probably over-the-top monotone.alexfoster wrote:On the other end of the scale are readings that sound as if they come from your worst nightmare of community theater ? either monotone or way over the top.
Congrats on a really great article. We're stars, we are!

Thing is, with LA Times having us, will not other papers be anxious to have a story about that cool dot.org hype thing too? Hehehe, come on papers. We are ready. Time to prepare a press-kit, Hugh. Muahahaha!

I must say that having an in-print story about Librivox is REALLY cool. And that's a great picture, Kara!
I know what you mean about thinking, "Is that my recording?" wrt monotone/over-the-top. (Admittedly, I've only got one on the site so far - and I'd actually like to redo it completely one of these days!) But hey, practice practice practice.
Yay Librivox!!!!

It's a nice article, and a great picture of Kara! Alex gets totally appropriate kudos (move over BBC!)!Kristen wrote:How many of us read this and thought "Is that my reading he is referring to?" But Kristen, please... you know full well that the "worst nightmare of community theater ... way over the top" award goes to yours truly!!! (If I could just get Hugh to stop suggesting people listen to that Frankenstein bit ... "cuuursed, currrrssseeed creator!")

I got a Frappr private message from a woman who claims to live in LA who says she doesn't know where to start and wants to work with me. However, her Frappr location appears to be off the West African coast in the middle of the ocean. I'm a little worried that this might not actually be legit and am not ready to suggest getting together. Any suggestions?

"getting together" might be as simple as a few emails or an IM session...

I thought she'd probably want to record with my equipment. Otherwise, she shouldn't really need me. She can find how-to stuff here. Right?

Oh, I've had shy newbies email me privately for help. It's *possible* she's legit. But, I wouldn't give her your home address quite yet if I were you ;-)
