I see, well that explains it. I have been using real Player. Thanks all for setting me straight.

And I appologize if I ruffled any feathers. I have only the highest respect for all the readers and people of LibriVox.

One last question... What is the recommended player for LibriVox recordings?

Ruffled any feathers? how?

I use Winamp5 lite. Because of its speedy feeling.

... and we have great respect for listeners who take the time to let us know about a potential problem with the files!

I don't know if there is a single player which is recommended, but I might suggest WinAmp (http://www.winamp.com/) or Foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/).

I use QuickTime - more out of laziness than anything else since something or other installed it on my machine. It works fine.

Anything, as long as it's NOT Real PLayer ;-)

Winamp for windows, xmms for linux, iTunes for mac/win... there are lots and lots of choices.

No ruffled feathers here! We appreciate it that you took the time to ask for help. I'm glad we solved your problem -- and now, if we get others with the same problem we'll know to ask if they're using Real!

Now THERE is a loaded question...

To my knowledge there is no recommended player ? just the one that you have, that works, and you like.

I personally use iTunes ? but there are parts of LibriVox where you can be shot for admitting that. I don?t go to those places.

Honestly, I used to hate iTunes. I hated it so much that, when I got my iBook, I installed xwindows so I could run xmms, which was what I used on my linux box :)

But... over time I finally got used to iTunes and I really love it now. Funny, huh?

To each his own :)

Use whatever software makes you happy, and enjoy listening to our books and reading them too!

Not Real Player. Got it. I tried Windows Media Player and heard the end of the file that Real Player somehow mysteriously cuts off, despite the file being the exact same length.

Thanks again all.
